Gaston Association of Realtors® and Canopy Housing Foundation team up to support Habitat for Humanity Gaston County
Charlotte, N.C. — Canopy Housing Foundation held its annual Community Grants Awards Celebration July 29, 2021, to celebrate and award funding to area nonprofits and Habitat for Humanity organizations working to improve lives and helping to address unmet housing needs.
Canopy Housing Foundation is the charitable-arm of Canopy Realtor® Association. The foundation awarded a total of $80,750, of which $21,200 was distributed through the Habitat Support Program. The Habitat Support Program was formalized in 2007 and has annually funded Habitat organizations in Mecklenburg, Iredell, Cabarrus, Gaston, Stanly, Anson-Union, Lincoln and as of 2020, Haywood counties.
Canopy Housing Foundation awarded $3,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Gaston County who will use the grant to purchase and install laminate flooring in one of two houses to be built in Cherryville, NC. Future homeowners include a single mother and her two small children.

This year’s award program featured a special presentation by Angela Burgess, Chief Executive Officer of Gaston Association of Realtors®, who announced that their association would be matching the $3,000 grant from Canopy Housing Foundation to Habitat for Humanity Gaston County. The match will come from proceeds from Gaston Association of Realtors® 20th Annual Golf Tournament to be held on September 22, 2021 at Cramer Mountain Golf Club.
“We are delighted to partner with Canopy Housing Foundation to further expand the mission and work of Habitat for Humanity Gaston County,” said Chip Wilson, 2021 Gaston Association of Realtors® president, adding “it’s an additional opportunity to show that Realtors® care deeply about their community.”
