Anne Marie DeCatsye, Esq., has been chief executive officer of Canopy Realtor® Association since February 1, 2001.  Canopy Realtor® Association operates and manages Canopy MLS, Canopy Real Estate Institute, and Canopy Housing Foundation. The Association ranks 15th by member count among local Realtor® associations, while Canopy MLS is the 17th largest MLS in the nation. Prior to her appointment as CEO, she was general counsel for the association for seven months. From 1995-2000, she served as deputy executive director of the Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition (REBIC), a trade association with broad membership engaged in sales, building, development, finance, management, and leasing of real estate, whose purpose is to advocate for property rights, sensible land use regulation, affordable housing, and economic development in the Charlotte region.

Before moving to Charlotte, DeCatsye lobbied for the American Association of PPOs and the Health Insurance Association of America. In addition to a bachelor’s in English and philosophy from Creighton University, DeCatsye earned a law degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., while working full-time on Capitol Hill.

DeCatsye has received numerous awards and recognition, including being honored by the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) with the prestigious William R. Magel Award of Excellence, the highest honor bestowed on an Association Executive.  She has also been recognized locally as one of Charlotte’s Most Admired CEOs in 2019 and 2022 by the Charlotte Business Journal. In 2009 and 2024, she was awarded the Charlotte Business Journal’s Women in Business Award and selected by Mecklenburg Times as one of Charlotte’s most influential women. Early in her career, she was recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal as one of Charlotte’s 40 under 40 in 2001.

RIS Media also recognized her as a 2022 Real Estate Newsmaker in the “Crusaders” category and again in 2024 in the “Luminaries” category. She has also been consistently recognized as one of the most powerful people in real estate in the Swanepoel Power 200 report since 2018.

DeCatsye serves on the Executive Committee of REBIC as well as the UNC-Charlotte Childress Klein Center for Real Estate (CKCRE) Advisory Board, where her leadership has been paramount, leading CKCRE to develop a five-year State of Housing in Charlotte study utilizing Canopy MLS data.  Her work with the Advisory Board has been instrumental in connecting local government leadership and the private sector in conversations regarding Charlotte’s lack of affordable housing. She also serves on the Board of Advisors for the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), a non-profit working to make economic equality a reality with a focus on creating stability for communities, families, and residents.

Nationally, she serves on the Realtor.com MLS Advisory Board, the MLS GRID Board of Managers, and the Broker Public Portal (BPP) Board of Managers, a collaborative venture between real estate brokerages and MLSs.

DeCatsye currently serves on the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) Legal Action Committee with prior service on the Council of MLSs Board of Directors, the NAR Board of Directors representing large regional MLSs, the NAR Risk Management Committee, Association Executives Committee (AEC), the MLS Executive Advisory Group to the NAR Leadership Team and the AEC Strategic Issues Work Group. Her past service also includes the NAR Housing Summit Governance Presidential Advisory Group, the Risk Management Committee, and the AEC Recommendations and Recognition Advisory Board. She is also past chair of the MLS Executives Forum.

She is among four CEOs to create the Southeast MLS Alliance, a collaborative effort among Canopy MLS, Charleston Trident Regional MLS, Georgia MLS, and Realtracs in Nashville. The Alliance offers enhanced services and benefits to brokers and agents with greater access to data, creating a more open, transparent, and efficient marketplace.

DeCatsye is sought out to speak on numerous industry panels and to local and national media regarding the Charlotte regional housing market and issues impacting the industry.

She is married to her best friend, John, and enjoys spending time with her daughter, Kate, and loves to travel.  Her email signature line best summarizes her priorities: Mom, Wife, and CEO, with a reminder that wearing sunscreen can save a life.
