Anne Marie DeCatsye, Esq., has been chief executive officer of the Canopy Realtor® Association since February 1, 2001.  She was general counsel for the association for seven months before her appointment as CEO.  Prior to that, DeCatsye served as deputy executive director of the Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition (REBIC), a Charlotte-area trade association with broad membership engaged in sales, building, development, finance, management and leasing of real estate, from 1995 to 2000.

Anne Marie Reflects on Canopy’s 100th Anniversary

Anne Marie DeCatsye, Esq. has been chief executive officer of the Charlotte Regional Realtor® Association, now Canopy Realtor® Association, since February 1, 2001. She was general counsel for the association for seven months before her appointment as CEO. Prior to that, DeCatsye served as deputy executive director of the Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition (REBIC), a Charlotte-area trade association with broad membership engaged in sales, building, development, finance, management and leasing of real estate from 1995 to 2000.

Before moving to Charlotte, DeCatsye lobbied for the American Association of PPOs and the Health Insurance Association of America. In addition to a bachelor’s in English and philosophy from Creighton University, DeCatsye earned a law degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., while working full time on Capitol Hill.

DeCatsye was named one of the Charlotte Business Journal’s 40 under 40 in 2001. She was named one of Charlotte’s Most Influential Women by The Mecklenburg Times in 2009 and was honored by The Charlotte Business Journal with the prestigious 2009 Women in Business Award.

Locally, she served on the Executive Committee of the Housing Charlotte 2007 Implementation Committee and was co-chair of the Incentive-Based Inclusionary Housing Policies Subcommittee. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of REBIC as well as the UNCC Childress Klein Center for Real Estate advisory board. She also recently joined the Board of Advisors for LISC, a non-profit that oversees efforts to expand affordable housing and close the wealth gap in Charlotte

DeCatsye currently serves as the secretary/treasurer on the Council of MLSs Board of Directors after serving a three-year term on the Board. She has been a member of COVE since 2005. She is the corporate secretary for the MLS GRID and represents Canopy MLS on the MLS Roundtable, a thought-leadership group whose goal is to advance the broker’s business. Since 2018 she has been named to the Swanepoel Power 200, an annual ranking of the most powerful people in residential real estate.

Her past service includes representing large regional MLSs on the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) Board of Directors, the NAR Association Executives Committee (AEC), the MLS Executive Advisory Group to the NAR Leadership Team, and the NAR AE Strategic Actions Committee.

DeCatsye has served on several other NAR committees, including the NAR Housing Summit and Governance Presidential Advisory Group, the Risk Management Committee and the Legal Action Committee, to which she has been reappointed for a three-year term. She previously served as chair of the MLS Executives Forum.

DeCatsye is sought out to speak on numerous industry panels as well as local and national media regarding the Charlotte regional housing market as well as issues impacting the industry.
