CHARLOTTE, N.C. –

The Housing Opportunity Foundation, which is the charitable arm of the Charlotte Regional Realtor® Association, is now accepting nominations for its Humanitarian Award.  The application process is open to the community.

Established in 2007, this annual award recognizes an individual, group or project in Mecklenburg or Iredell counties whose work and service has greatly enhanced the quality of life in the community.

All nominees will be evaluated based on community impact, extent of service, and overall achievements. Previous Humanitarian Award winners have included Shaun “Lucky” Corbet, Don Gately, John Crawford, Otis Crowder, Curt Seifart, Bob Bishop, Ginger Dowdle, Kids First of the Carolinas, Rev. George Cook Jr., Davidson Housing Coalition’s Hands Around Mecklenburg/Mooresville Making Emergency Repairs Safely program, and David Barnhardt.

The Charlotte Regional Realtor® Association and Housing Opportunity Foundation believe that our local humanitarians should be recognized for their work and service to our community.

The 2018 Humanitarian Award winner will be recognized at the association’s Holiday Awards Luncheon & Annual Meeting in December.  The recipient will be honored with a crystal award and the opportunity to designate a 501(c)(3) organization of his or her choice to receive $5,000.

Applications and supporting documents must be submitted by October 31, 2018.  For applications or more information about the foundation and the Humanitarian Award, visit www.CarolinaHome.com and click the “Know a Hero in the Community” banner on the homepage.
