Housing Opportunity Foundation now accepting Community Grants Program applications

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Regional Realtor® Association Housing Opportunity Foundation continues its Community Grants program, which provides restricted monetary support to nonprofit organizations in Mecklenburg and Iredell counties that address unmet housing needs. The maximum amount an organization may apply for is $3,000, pending availability of funds, and funds cannot be used for operational, administrative or capital expenses or debt reduction. 

Local housing organizations that are making a difference in the community through their housing initiatives must apply by July 15, 2018.  The application, which includes a brief narrative detailing how funds will be used with supporting documentation, must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation by an active Charlotte Regional Realtor® Association member.  The foundation will distribute grants at the Community Grants luncheon on Sept. 5,, 2018 and the awarded organizations must utilize the funds before Dec. 31, 2018. 

Last year, the Housing Opportunity Foundation awarded $61,500 to local nonprofits and Habitat organizations that address unmet housing needs in the community.  Realtor® members have distributed a total of $365,000 over the past ten years through the Habitat Support and Community Grants programs.  Applications are rated according to community impact, project feasibility, fiscal strength and Realtor® support.
