Consumers in the Carolinas can access timely, accurate and trustworthy property information listed by multiple Realtors® from a single agent website thanks to Internet Data Exchange (IDX).
CarolinaMLS offers Participants and Subscribers the ability to display MLS active, under contract and sold listing information on the Internet through the Internet Data Exchange (IDX) program. Through IDX, Participants permit other Participants and Subscribers to advertise their active listings on one another's websites. Participants may include their listings in the IDX database without having their own websites. If a Participant chooses not to participate, his or her firm's listings cannot be displayed on any other member's website.
Brokers who participate in IDX can offer consumers the most comprehensive selection of real estate listing information, and their listings are exposed on the websites of other brokers. Broker websites can effectively compete with national aggregators as comprehensive sources of online listing information.
IDX only applies to websites that display listings obtained via IDX data feed. IDX does not apply to print advertising or to listings posted online on Craigslist or on social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter. For information on non-IDX display of listings, read "Get permission first. Just because a listing is in the MLS doesn't mean you can post it online."

Display of Sold Data
CarolinaMLS provides two methods IDX recipients can use to display sold content on their websites.
Sold Content Provided
Under the first method, CMLS provides sold content (i.e., those listings that have closed and have been reported as “Sold” in CMLS’ online database, reflected as “Sold” status). The sold content is only available to those broker-members who have signed a “CarolinaMLS Participant License Agreement for IDX/VOW/Licensee Internal Use“ and have been approved by CarolinaMLS. In addition, IDX vendors must sign the "CarolinaMLS Participant License Agreement for IDX/VOW/Licensee Internal Use."
The “CarolinaMLS Rules and Regulations” Sections 16 and 18 provide the rules for Internet display of sold data. For questions concerning the rules, contact Stephanie Gresham.
Sales History Data Tool
The second method is the Sales History Data Tool. This tool offers consumers the ability to search for limited information on sales in any neighborhood in our 10-county CarolinaMLS service area. The user must pick a county, a ZIP code and a neighborhood, which will produce a list of sales by year along with a map of those sales. The Sales History Data Tool is on CarolinaHome.com, and CarolinaMLS has created a frameable version of the tool available for any Subscriber with an IDX website. Get details to add this framed tool to your site.
