What:    Realtors® Care Day (RCD), an initiative of Canopy Housing Foundation, is an all-day home-repair project designed to help a diverse group of homeowners with critical, but often unaffordable, exterior home repairs and necessary adaptive and safety modifications in Mecklenburg, Iredell and Haywood Counties.

Like previous years, the RCD project will also include a community project in Iredell County, at the Children’s Home of Iredell County. The Children’s Home envisions a community where child abuse is not tolerated, and all children flourish in loving nurturing homes. The Children’s Home of Iredell County provides stability and housing for at-risk youth and children in traumatic situations, helping to provide and support a journey in overcoming barriers and achieving productive outcomes.

Who:    The 2024 event will include more than 350 Realtor® volunteers working on Fri., April 19 from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., at 13 locations in Mecklenburg Counties, two locations/community projects in Iredell County, as well as projects in Haywood County, N.C.

Since 2009, thousands of Realtor® volunteers equipped with hammers and nails, and armed with a passion to give back, have collaborated in the all-hands-on-deck event that brings together city/county leadership, housing nonprofit partners, contractors, home inspectors and touches the lives of homeowners across Mecklenburg, Iredell, and Haywood counties. Canopy Housing Foundation’s cumulative impact has assisted more than 315 families and individuals. The overall economic impact is more than $1.2 million.

Projects range from repairing gutters, repairing decks and ramps, and painting home exteriors to debris clean-up and heavy yard work to improve access and safety. Realtors® Care Day also includes a number of community initiatives from Food Drives to community gardens, and park and playground beautification and improvement.
