Broker Pre-Licensing

The real estate pre-license course is your first step to obtaining your real estate license.

Effective April 1, 2006, in order to obtain a North Carolina real estate license you must successfully complete a 75-hour pre-licensing course at the school, as well as pass the state exam. After successful completion of the pre-licensing class and the N.C. state exam, you will be awarded a "provisional" broker license.

To remove the "provisional" status, you will then need to complete three 30-hour post-licensing courses within three years. You must take at least one 30-hour post-licensing class each year to keep your license on active status. You can complete all three 30-hour post-licensing classes within the first year.

NOTE: If you do not take the required post-licensing classes within three years, your license will be canceled.

The pre-licensing course is $365.00 and there is a required textbook, Modern Real Estate Practice in North Carolina, Sixth Edition, which you may purchase at the Realtor® Store. You can contact the store at 704-940-3126.
