CHARLOTTE, N.C. ― The Charlotte Regional Realtor® Association Housing Opportunity Foundation continues its Community Grants Program for a ninth year. The program provides restricted monetary support to nonprofit organizations in Mecklenburg and Iredell counties that address unmet housing needs. Grants are awarded in increments of up to $3,000, pending availability of funds, and cannot be used for operational, administrative, capital expenses or debt reduction.
Local housing organizations that are making a difference in the community through their housing initiatives must apply by July 15, 2017. The application, which includes a brief narrative detailing how funds will be used with supporting documentation, must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation by an active Charlotte Regional Realtor® Association member. The foundation will distribute grants by the end of September 2017, and the awarded organizations must utilize the funds before Dec. 31, 2017.
Last year the foundation awarded $55,000 to local nonprofits that share its mission. Since the inception of the Habitat Support and Community Grants Programs, Realtor® members have distributed a total of $306,500 through these initiatives. Applications are rated according to community impact, project feasibility, fiscal strength and Realtor® support.
The foundation, which serves as the charitable arm of the association, is dedicated to making a difference in the community by providing funding to creating housing opportunities, promoting homeownership, and positioning and educating Realtors® as leaders.
